Bodies of thought. Stella Chang. Lucy Rovetto

Hudson

The Fine Arts Gallery is pleased to present Bodies of Thought, a two-person exhibition featuring the work of Stella Chang and Lucy Rovetto. Bringing together two distinct approaches to figurative painting, drawing, and mixed media. The exhibition explores the body as both subject and vessel, an outward form shaped by memory, emotion, identity, and experience.

In Bodies of Thought, the figure becomes a place where inner and outer worlds meet. Across the exhibition, bodies are observed, imagined, fragmented, transformed, and reassembled. The artists move beyond straightforward representation to consider what a body can communicate without words: vulnerability, desire, isolation, connection, resilience, and the complicated experience of being seen.

While each artist maintains a distinct visual language, their works share an interest in the psychological dimensions of the figure. Gestures, expressions, posture, and physical presence become clues to unseen narratives. Familiar forms are made strange, intimate moments become theatrical, and the human body emerges as something simultaneously recognizable and unknowable.

The artists explore the tension between physical presence and interior life. The works ask viewers to consider not only what a body looks like, but what it might contain. What stories are held beneath the surface? How much of a person can be revealed through an image and how much remains private?
Together, the two artists create a conversation about representation, perception, and the many ways we inhabit our bodies and understand one another.

The exhibition runs from November 17 to December 11, 2026. The opening is November 17, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. We will be part of JC Friday on December 4, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm.
The gallery is free to the public and all are welcome. Parking is available on the street.
