Opening Reception: In Memoriam: Daniel Kitchen's Art Collection

Halsey Art Center will be hosting an exhibition honoring the late Daniel Kitchen, a patron of the arts and true friend of the community. The artwork on display, ranging from modern/contemporary paintings and ceramics to primitive, folk and mixed media works, reflect Daniel's love of the metropolitan art scene. In particular, he supported Newark artists and galleries by consistently buying artwork from fundraisers and art auctions.

Daniel was a beloved fixture at local (NJ and NYC) art openings, talks and festivals. He also volunteered his time and energies serving on the boards of library organizations in Newark and East Orange, art organizations in Newark and NYC and gay book and art fairs in Newark and NYC. There may be nothing that Daniel loved more than to support and give back to the art communities he called home.
