Ruth Asawa: a string of related possibilities

Middlesex
Zimmerli Art Museum

Installation bringing together three of the artist's iconic wire sculptures from different periods.

This installation brings together three of the artist’s iconic wire sculptures from different periods. Whether suspended in space or unfolding in shadows across the wall, they foreground interdependence as both method and meaning—a position that holds art and life as part of a continuous, evolving whole. As Asawa said in 1952, “Now when I work I discover a string of related possibilities . . .”

Ruth Asawa: a string of related possibilities is organized by Jeremiah William McCarthy, Chief Curator and Curator of American Art.
