Artist Statement
"Contemporary society is drawn to the instant gratification of aesthetics and spoon-fed pop culture and current events. Conversely, recent generations are repelled and shy away from confronting uncomfortable truths. My art works to erase the demarcation. Employing a unique technical approach, I contrast colors, light, and surface to create vibrant and textured paintings that tackle complex and difficult themes in a way that draws in the viewer. My themes include legal and unlawful environmental toxins, social media, propaganda, international conflicts, and whistleblowers. I strive to put glamour into visually captivating works that compel viewers to engage and reflect upon issues of living in the current moment. Through the dynamic interplay of texture, palette, and pattern, I employ subtle visual tension that transforms provocative subjects into imagery that is both magnetic and accessible. At the core of my work is an investigation into the nature of reality itself—how we visually and viscerally consume information, goods, and narratives; and how the line between truth and fiction is blurred, particularly in an era increasingly dominated by AI technology."
