Artist Talk: Lonnie Holley

ArtYard
Join artist Lonnie Holley for a conversation inside How We Got Over, his new exhibition at ArtYard.
Oct 25th 12 to 1pm
Join artist Lonnie Holley for a conversation inside How We Got Over, his new exhibition at ArtYard.
Following his August residency at ArtYard, Holley returns to the gallery to share stories and reflections on the exhibition’s work, his ongoing practice, and his lifelong commitment to improvisational creativity. Working across sculpture, drawing, painting, music, performance, film, and photography, Holley transforms found materials and everyday experiences into layered meditations on history, memory, survival, and possibility.
The conversation offers an opportunity to hear directly from Holley about the works on view and the ideas that continue to shape his practice, including his ongoing reflections on America, its history, and what it might mean to reconnect with the country through art, memory, and imagination.
The talk takes place one day after the opening of How We Got Over and follows Holley’s performance at ArtYard on October 17. Come spend a Sunday morning with Lonnie in the gallery and hear from an artist whose work continually asks us to look again at what we think we know.
